Signs of Spring Giveaway

Winner of the Spring Giveaway Robin's Nest Ring Bowl is Denise Ward.   Congrats!

The recent warmer weather has inspired me to refresh our front door and porch.  I have been anxiously waiting to put out the new spring wreath that I found at a local thrift shop over the winter.  You never know what treasures you'll find when you visit a thrift shop!

Then, I took a trip to our local nursery to pick up a few items.  I used a mix of Sorbet Yellow Blotch and Sorbet Fire Violas to fill the porch wall boxes and tucked in some spanish moss around the edges.  (I kept the flowers in their original container and used the spanish moss to hide the unsightly plastic pots. It makes it easier for later removal too.)

Right before spring arrives, I get a bad case of cabin fever. Setting up a spring vignette near the fireplace aways lifts my mood.  I love the surprise I feel when unwrapping spring items that have been stored away for so long.  It's like opening a new gift!  I ended up using some small houseplants, birdhouses, a lantern and some of my hand-painted pieces for the vignette.  Adding some live greenery makes me feel like spring is here!

I used a french bucket that I painted a few years ago with my "Cottontail" design and filled it with some  good quality mini artificial daffodils that I found at AC Moore.  I love their "almost real" look.   I found the sweet little nest with the single egg at Ken's Gardens and tucked it into a clay pot napkin ring.  I added my painted ring bowl, also one of my designs, titled, "Robin's Nest" to tie in the aqua lantern.

Now for the fun part!  I am giving this sweet 2-1/2" hand-painted bowl away to one lucky winner.  Just sign up to receive emails (above), share this post to your favorite social media (Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and you will be entered.  Let me know where you shared the post in the comments below.  It's that easy!  The giveaway ends on March 31.  The winner will be notified by email.  Good luck and enjoy the warmer days ahead!

Silhouettes in White

As an artist, I'm always ready to try new things with painting, so for the last two weeks I have been working on some paintings called Silhouettes in White.  I start with a layered abstract background then I finish them with a warm white silhouette.  I use warm white frames to keep the pieces light and airy.  You can find the prints at my website for fine art america at the following link.  I love that they offer many options for framing and matting.
